Sunday afternoon

This afternoon we had a birthday party for Izzy (left) and Minnie (right) who turned 2. Minnie was a stray and we don't know when her actual birthday is. Our vet thinks she is about the same age as our other cat Izzy so we celebrated both of their birthdays today. They each got a special appetizer, and some treats. They are two spoiled cats!

Mason kept us entertained playing on the floor with his ball. He is at such a cute age. He is trying to crawl, but right now he can only go backwards and in circles. He sure is cute, isn't he?

The afternoon wore Mason and Paul out, and they just had to take a nap! (Actually, Paul started out trying to sing Mason to sleep and ended up singing them both to sleep:) Just an average Sunday afternoon at our house.

Champions

Marley's basketball team, Picture Awards, Girls Midgets in West Springfield won the championship game today. It was a close game with lots of tense moments. They had a little award ceremony after the game. Would you believe my camera battery ran out right before the picture for the awards? Luckily Kristen's phone camera came to the rescue. After the game we went out for pizza to celebrate!

(Marley is #10)

Lost seagulls?

We stopped at Kohl's in West Springfield today and the parking lot was full of seagulls. About an hour earlier I saw them flying over Geisslers in Agawam. I think they got off-course somewhere along the way!

Mason's First Basketball Game

Before heading off to Marley's basketball game, Mason had some lunch. Do you think it is a coincidence that Mark and Janelle pack that bib every time Mason comes over?

This was Mason's first basketball game. It is unfortunate that he fell asleep on the way and stayed asleep in his car seat for a little while. When he woke up the game was going on with lots of noise and action. He started to cry. He probably could not imagine where in the world he was. At least his parents were there to comfort him. Marley's team won this playoff game. Now they are off to the championship game!

Springfield Museums with Marley

Today we took Marley to the Springfield Museums. It is a tradition of sorts to go on school vacation every February. Paul and I really wanted to see the new Museum of Springfield History that opened last October. I could have spent the whole day there, Paul for the most part did. They always have some fun things for the kids to do during vacation days and for the Springfield History Museum they had a scavenger hunt, so we actually spent quite a while in there. It is wonderful. If you are interested in Springfield history, they have so much information and it is all presented in such an interesting way; Forest Park, downtown, early automobiles, industry, and so much more. Marley and I went to the other museum too.

When we got home, Paul got totally soaked shoveling. Marley felt bad for him so she made him a "special dessert." It consisted of whipped cream mixed with raspberry filling and clementines. Paul loved it!

Avatar at Imax

So...I am actualy blogging this from Jordan's Furniture (well actually from Kelly's restaurant which is in Jordan's - they have WiFi). We went to the Imax theater in Jordan's in Natick to see Avatar in 3D. I loved it! It was wonderful.

This is like no other furniture store I have ever seen. The main door enters onto "Bourbon St." in New Orleans. They have a Blues Brothers Mardi Gras show on the hour that was really cute. We had fun walking all around there.

p.s. They also really do have a furniture store!

Steaming Tender

Tonight was our annual Valentine's dinner with friends. We went to Steaming Tender for the second year. It is a restaurant in the old Palmer train station. We had a great meal with good friends.

P.S. We all missed you Linda and Ralph. Lin, I hope you feel better soon!

8 months old!

We met Janelle and Mason at Borders tonight. He is 8 months old today! Janelle's dad gave him the cute little outfit he had on tonight - she said her father's baseball number was 3, and Mark's softball number is 3. One cute thing that happened tonight is that Mark called Janelle while we were shopping (he was at work) and Janelle asked Mark if he wanted to talk to Mason. She put the phone up to his ear and when he heard Mark's voice his face just lit up, his hands started waving and he started making baby noises.

Is he just the cutest thing?

Visit with Jean

Today Paul and I went to visit my mother. She has been living in Connecticut with her other daughter Laura, along with Laura's husband Ken and their daughter Megan. She has had a lot of health problems over the last few years but she seemed to be doing really good today. We took a ride to Blandford, to the cemetery where a lot of her family is buried. Does it seem possible that she has a 10 year old granddaughter and an 8 year old great granddaughter?

Blogging on the go

This blog is really a test. Our day today got totally rearranged. Paul spent most of last night and a lot of today installing a wireless router on our computer. My plan, eventually, is to get either the new iPad or, more probably a netbook. Kristen let me borrow her netbook so I could try it out. Late this afternoon we took a ride just so I could take a picture and try to download it onto this netbook and try posting a blog.

We ended up at the old Westover Air Force Base. When Paul and I were growing up in old Bethany (it was in Springfield almost to the Chicopee line) there were always a lot of Westover families. Paul actually spent time with some airmen at the base as a teenager. Westover is a lot smaller now, but some of the old hangers and old base housing is still there. We came across a place where we could take a picture of the huge planes, C5 Galaxies.

So, even though this was supposed to be a test post, I think these pictures are neat!
