Something New! (Project Life 2013,Week 10) and (some pages) Vacation, 4th Trip down South 2014 - Day 1-4

Hello Blog! Long time no see.

I know, I have really been neglecting this blog. I have been intent on working on my new scrapbooking system, Project Life.

Project Life was invented by Becky Higgins, and this is how she describes it in her own words: "Project Life is a solution-based approach to scrapbooking that was created to simplify the process in order to allow you more time to enjoy life! It requires no glue, no scissors, no tools, and no skills of any kind. The design of our products takes the guess work out of layout design so that you can focus on recording your everyday moments through your photos and journaling. The simple design is stylish and makes it possible for you to complete more pages in less time." 

I actually started this in March of 2012.  In March of this year, I decided to go digital, with everything, even the kids books, much to my friend Janice's dismay.  Janice is the lady who has the scrapbooking crops at her house once a month.  At the last crop I showed up with just my small laptop.  She was not thrilled with me! 

Anyhow, I was thinking about how I haven't been blogging much lately and I had an "Ah-ha" moment.  Why not post my digital Project Life pages? 

I am horribly behind.  It took me awhile to get everything figured out, buy templates, etc. so I am only done so far with the first week in March.  March 3-9, 2013. 

I am sending each digital page to a printer and putting them into a scrapbook.  Each week will be a two page spread.

So, I will be adding these pages as I get them done. 

In May we went on vacation; our fourth year of going down the Skyline Drive and the Blue Ridge Parkway.  I have been working on doing a digital page for each day.  So far I have completed four days.  Here they are.

Shrub removal and lobstahs!

What a busy day today was!

I have been after Paul for years now to take out our front shrubs. They are HUGE and even when he trims them, he can't get them small enough. They were put in when our house was built in 1973!

One day last week I said to Paul that I wanted to take out all of the front shrubs and plant hydrangeas. Imagine my total shock when he said, "I'll give Ritchie's Tree Service (a local guy) a call and see if he can do it." Ritchie came last Tuesday to see what needed to be done and said that he could probably squeeze us in on Sunday.

They arrived at 8:30 a.m. and got right to it.







I think they had most of the shrubs out by 9:30. It was funny to watch the neighhbors walking by that early in the morning. It was a big event seeing that the Radtkes don't change things much!

Then they had to grind up the roots.



Paul also wanted them to take down a whole lot of vines and a small tree in the back corner of our yard.





They are also trimming the hemlocks.



In the midst of all that excitement, we left to go to Woburn at about 11:00. Stacia was having her yearly BBQ and lobster fest. What a fun time we had there.

We basically ate all day. We had four courses....first appetizers; then Stacia had two main servings trying to accomodate all the different likes and dislikes of hamburgs and hotdogs: then steak tips, Spanish rice, and lobsters; and finally dessert!







In between eating the different course, the kids and men played sports and we all played corn hole.







But....by far the funniest thing that we did was the group picture. Paul set the timer on the camera and had 10 seconds to....run down off the deck, across the yard, and into position for the picture. I think we had only two tries, but as you can see, it made for a good picture because all of us were laughing....except Paul, who was huffing and puffing!



What a busy, fun day.

P.S. Paul has since had Kristen change the timer default to 20 seconds - we all want him to live the next time we have a group picture!

P.P.S. Today marks 4 years of blogging. I started August 19, 2008.......and I STILL LOVE IT!

Blog banner fixed

Today Paul fixed my blog banner picture. Blogger changed something months ago and my banner picture has not been sized right since then.

It looks so much better now!

Today marks three years of doing my blog, and I STILL LOVE IT!

The sun setting behind the clouds was pretty tonight. By the time I found a place to take the picture the sun had lowered a little and it was not quite so impressive, but still pretty.

188/365 - New Blog Template

If any of you have been checking out my blog lately, you undoubtedly have discovered that it has been in a state of flux.  I have been changing it around for two days now, and I'm not sure that I am finished yet.  Please bear with me.  I have to be finished soon because I am running on very little sleep, LOL!

It's been a year.....

Today, August 19th marks one year of doing Debbie's Blog. I looked back in the records and this is my 73rd post. Wow, I still love it as much as when I started!

Happy New Year

Happy New Year to everyone! I have enjoyed doing this blog so much for the past 4+ months. So, this coming year I am also going to do another blog. This one will be a different type of blog, just pictures with a small blurb about each picture. It is called Project 365. I got the idea for this from a scrapbooking magazine. It was meant to be done as a traditional scrapbook, but I thought it would be fun to do as a blog. Each day I will take a picture, it can be of anything, and post it with just a small explanation of the picture. This is the link to my new blog for any of you who are interested:

A new way to get rid of an apple

Today we took a ride to Vermont to visit my favorite scrapbook store. On the way we stopped at an apple orchard and got a couple of apples. We were driving along, eating our apples, enjoying the day. Paul threw his apple core out of his window into a wooded area. I thought that was a good idea because apple cores start to smell fast in the trash and the day was young. When I finished mine we were driving through woods so I said, "Here, throw mine in the woods." He took the apple core and without missing a beat threw it as hard as he could out MY window. The only problem being my window was closed. There was a loud "thud" and then there was apple mush all over the window with bits and pieces all over me. At first neither one of us knew what happened. He thought I wanted him to throw the apple out my window (I certainly could have done that). Well, I started to laugh so hard, no sounds came out. I could hardly catch my breath. We must have laughed about that for at least 5 minutes. I still smile just thinking about it.
