Mother's Day Present

The kids made me this picture frame for Mother's Day.

Kristen had seen something like this before and thought it would be a cute idea for Mother's Day.
She helped Marley and Mason make three of these, one for me, one for Janelle, and one for Stacia (Janelle's mother).

I just love it!

Celebrations

Today we celebrated Paul’s birthday and Mother’s Day. Janelle’s mom came and we had a cookout at our house.

After church, while I was getting ready for dinner, Marley was outside picking dandelions and violets. She made a crown for the queen of the day, and a scepter for the king. She has quite an imagination. She, herself, wore a band of dandelion stems and violets.



Before the birthday and Mother’s Day celebration Marley had everyone write their names on a piece of paper and then picked names; Stacia was the queen, and Mark was the king.







Stacia and I have a nice little agreement. When dinner is at my house she brings desserts, and vice versa. She didn’t know it was Paul’s birthday until that morning, so we used the slices of pound cake that she brought for his birthday cake. Marley lit the candle and we turned off the lights. She brought in the slice of cake from the kitchen and we all sang happy birthday. In this picture, the only one I took, Paul's hand is in front of his piece of cake, so you can only see part of the candle sticking up.



We had quite the time getting a picture of the mothers and kids today. Mason isn’t always cooperative with picture taking, so this is the best that we could do.



It was a fun day spent with family. I’m so thankful for all of them.

Paul's 60th birthday and Mother's Day

What a nice day we had. We went to Lido's for dinner and then back home for birthday cake. I felt bad for Janelle though. This was her first Mother's Day and also the first time Mason was sick. He went to the doctor in the morning and was diagnosed with croup! He was so good all day, and especially at the restaurant (not like his father who went to Lido's one time as a baby and then not again for years!!!) You could tell he wasn't up to par, but he was so good.



Mark and Janelle surprised Paul with a navigation system for our new car. He spent the rest of the day playing with it. Kristen gave us each a pair of socks that she knit (I now have 10 pairs).

Kristen also gave me a really neat gift. It is an old Nancy Drew book made into a journal. They left the first few pages of the book (I even have this book) and then the rest of the book is blank pages. So cool. She went to the Twist Craft Fair in Northampton and there was a booth that did lots of neat things with old books.




Marley made a treasure hunt for Kristen. She is so imaginative!



Our good friends Ralph and Linda stopped over to help celebrate the day. So...for a few months I get to be in my 50's while Paul is in his 60's. Sweet.

Happy Mother's Day!

I asked Paul to take a picture of the "mothers" today. So...we were standing there waiting for him to adjust the camera (which I thought was taking him a long time), and then to tell us when he was ready. You know, one, two, three....Smile. Well, that never happened. All of a sudden he said he was done. This picture was about the best of the bunch. All we got was all three of us looking like we were hanging around waiting. Next time I'll use the timer :)
