263/365 - Goodbye Ford Escort

Tonight a guy was supposed to come and take our Ford Escort away. It's been 4 1/2 months since we got our new car and the Escort is finally going. I shouldn't admit this, but Paul was keeping it around until he finished trimming the hemlocks - he was using the car to keep all of his trimming stuff in. I also shouldn't admit that we had two old Escorts in the backyard (for parts cars). We have had Ford Escorts for about 18 years, so I guess 4 1/2 months to finalize the end isn't too bad.

Paul absolutely loves the new Honda Fit, so it hasn't been too painful.

The guy called tonight to say something was wrong with his truck, so he would have to come tomorrow. I'm getting a little worried that it's not really going to happen - LOL!

232/365 - Purple toes

I got my toes painted tonight. All summer I have had red toes and so I decided tonight to do something different. I picked out a purplish color and as the toe lady was putting it on I decided that I really liked it and asked her what the name was. With her Vietnamese accent she read Pamplona Purple by Opi. I finally asked her to spell it - LOL!!

Well, when Paul saw it, much to my surprise he said, "Purple, I hate purple toes." Who would know he would even have an opinion on the subject. I'm sure he will get used to it (actually he'll have a long time to get used to it because August is usually the last time I get them done and then I just let it wear off over the winter LOLOLOL!!). And it's not really purple purple, just sort of purple, right?

P.S. They actually look more purple in this picture than in real-life!

The end of an era?

Today we took a ride to Swansy, NH (near Keene) to look at a Ford Escort wagon for sale. Paul has had a love-affair going with Escort wagons. We have had one, and sometimes two, (not to mention his parts cars that we don't talk about) for the last 18 years. Paul's father saw one in New Hamphshire about a month ago that he thought looked perfect. We went up there last Saturday to check it out. It really did look perfect; one owner, 60 thousand miles, no visible rust. It was in a real small-time used car lot; the guy who owned the business lived down the street. Today Paul called him and made plans to meet him at his business. He brought the car down the street to a garage and they put it up on a lift - the frame had rust holes.

So....Paul has decided that his time with Escorts is probably over. We are not sure what is next. We stopped at a couple of car dealers on the way home - Mazda, Hyundai and Honda are some options. We'll see!
