Yo Gabba Gabba

Tonight Mason and I watched Yo Gabba Gabba, again. He watches this at his house on Nick, Jr. We don't get Nick, Jr. here so I bought a DVD. He loves it and we watch it A LOT. The problem is the songs get stuck in my head. It really is cute though. Paul was playing with my camera tonight and took pictures while it was playing so I thought I would post them.

Disney Sing-A-Long and Puzzles

Tonight Mason and Grandma watched Disney Sing-A-Long for the first time. This was one of Marley's favorites when she was Mason's age. He had a good time doing wooden puzzels too. I was surprised at how good he was at it!

315/365 - Our TV died

Today our TV died. We knew it was going. For a couple of months now, when you first turned it on, the picture was very elongated vertically. Then within a few minutes it straightened out. Today there was just a flat horizontal line, no picture.

When Mark came over tonight he and Paul took the TV from the bedroom (19 inches vs. the downstairs 27") and put it in the family room. Paul searched around in the cellar and found Mark's old TV from his bedroom. Mark remembered that he got it in 1986, when he was 12. I asked him how he remembered the year and he said he remembered watching the 1986 World Series on it when Bill Buckner lost the game by letting the ball go through his legs.

Anyhow, we put that one in our bedroom. It doesn't have a remote. When you fall asleep watching TV you have to wake up and turn the TV off. Yikes.

P.S. Update - Saturday November 14th - Yesterday Paul took our TV to The TV Doctor in town. They called today to say it could be fixed for $95. My uncle bought this TV for my mother in 1993. It was an $850 27 inch Mitsubishi. She had it for six years and gave it to us when it didn't work anymore. Paul had it fixed in 1999 for $106. It has been problem free until now, and now it can also be fixed! You can't beat that!

309/365 - Tarzan movie Marathon

I think Marley is finally hooked on my old Tarzan movies!

Last Friday night after watching Mother Goose with Mason, Marley actually asked if we could watch a Tarzan movie.

This Friday night we finished the one we started last week and watched two more! I’m in my glory!!

P.S. The Babas seemed to enjoy the Tarzan movies too. I think Big Baba is glad for the break from the Waltons!

281/365 - Marley's new haircut

Friday night - just Marley and Grandma. Big Baba was away for the weekend (a car show in Hershey, PA), Paul was sick and stayed upstairs in the bedroom all night, and Mason was with his other grandmother. I asked Marley if she wanted to watch an old Tarzan movie. I have a collection of Johnny Weissmuller Tarzan movies. I love these movies. I remember watching a lot of them when I was a kid on TV - Big 3 Theater. To me there was nothing better than watching a Tarzan movie on TV on a Friday night. Back then I was enthralled with anything African, be it Tarzan or the missionaries that came to our church from Africa. I still love African music.

Anyhow, a few years ago I tried to get Marley interested in them. It was a no go. Tonight she agreed to watch one with me. After it was over I asked her if she loved it. She said No. I said, "You don't want to watch any more Tarzan's?" She said that she would watch them, she liked them, she just didn't love them. I'll give her some time, maybe she can learn to love them!

Happy New Year!

I can't believe it is 2010! It seems like just yesterday the world was buzzing about Y2K. Last night after we brought Marley home I was flipping, looking for something to watch. I really didn't want to watch any ball dropping or New Year's celebrating, and then I saw the Twilight Zone Marathon. 46 hours of Twilight Zone shows. I remember watching these shows on Friday nights when I was a kid. I loved them. I remember wishing they were longer than 1/2 hour. We watched them last night and turned them back on this morning. We were thinking of going away for a couple of days. Paul wanted to go to an old tavern inn in Vermont for one night (until we found out it was $225 a night). Actually, what I think we both needed was a day to do nothing......except watch the Twilight Zone marathon.

65/365 - Shirley Temple DVD's

Last year we bought an 18 movie DVD set of Shirley Temple movies. They are wonderful. Marley, the Babas and I have been watching them on Friday nights. We've watched most of them once, now we are watching them in numerical order.
