Buying Marley's Easter dress and Mason not sitting on the Easter Bunny's lap...

Tonight Kristen, Marley, Janelle and Mason and I went Easter shopping at the mall. Marley is not too into dresses lately, but luckily we found one that she was, if not thrilled with, at least willing to wear.

Before we went shopping, Janelle wanted to see if Mason would sit on the Easter Bunny's lap for a picture. Nope. No way. Not even with Marley saying she would sit with him.

He liked watching other kids sit on his lap.



Janelle tried talking him into it. Nope.



The Easter Bunny tried talking him into it. No way.



When we bought Marley's dress, they gave us free bunny ears. Kristen gave them to Mason. He loved them.



We tried again. Maybe he would sit on EB's lap with his new bunny ears. No way.

Oh well, he sure made a cute Easter Bunny himself!



As Marley said, when she was five and asked why she wouldn't sit on the Easter Bunny's lap, "I don't like to sit on men's lap that I don't know." You can't argue with that!

On another note - Places that are no more - Friendly's at the Holyoke Mall. This Friendly's has been at the Food Court since the mall opened in 1979, or at least very close to it. I just can't believe that this Friendly's is gone.

At the mall

When we picked Mason up today we went to the mall. I needed to get some glue type stuff for scrapbooking and Mason loves the mall. Telling him he was going to the mall was almost enough for him not to fuss when leaving his daddy!

We did my errand, and then we went downstairs to the food court to get ice cream. Mark had told me a few days ago that Friendly's was closed! I think Friendly's has been there since the mall opened. I can't believe it's gone. I meant to take a picture but I forgot. I hope I can get one before something else goes in there!

After that we went to Target - another one of Mason's favorite places at the mall. They have lots of good things there, little cars, motorcycles, and Lego men! After a few minutes of looking, we found some Lego men that he was happy with. He played with them almost all afternoon and evening, with a little time out to play with his "iPad."



Marley's little chair is just perfect for him to work at!

Back to the mall

Believe it or not it was back to the mall tonight; this time with just Paul and Mason. There were some things that I didn't get the night before. Luckily, Mason loves the mall. He had another meatball grinder (hey, at least he eats it), we took a walk by Santa and watched him for awhile, we looked at a motorcycle at the mall that was being raffled off, we walked around the toy store again and I did my errands. In the toy store we played with the Jack in the Box for awhile. He got so excited waiting for it to pop up.

Janelle told me the night before that Mason loves riding in the little cars now. I asked him tonight if he wanted to ride in the "Bob the Builder" bulldozer at Babies R Us. He said yes, climbed right up onto it, knew where to put the quarters, but....
as soon as it started to go he dropped to his knees and wanted to get off. I tried to reassure him but in the end took him off and we watched the ride go without him!! Too funny.

Two nights in a row at the mall at Christmas time is exhausting!!

Christmas shopping at the mall

Tonight Paul and I met Kris, Janelle, Mark and Mason at the mall to go Christmas shopping. Mason was very happy to have his "meatball grinder." This is something he asks for a lot.



The old Borders store has been turned into a toy store for the Christmas season. We spent a lot of time in there. In fact, it was a little difficult to get Mark and Mason out of there!

347/365 - Another Monday night at the mall....

We met Mark and Mason at the mall tonight. When we got there, Kris, Toby and Marley were there too. It's a good thing the seating area in Borders wasn't very crowded; we basically took it over. Kris, Toby and Marley came to get Marley's glasses fixed; they didn't stay too long.

Mason just loves to be let loose there. He just takes off. I wonder if he would notice if none of us were following him.

He spotted these. "Balls", he said. LOL




Janelle and I went shopping for boots for Mason. He didn't like getting his feet measured, and when they put the boots on him, it was like he was stuck to the floor. I wanted to get a picture of him walking in the new boots, but he wouldn't walk. Finally I picked him up to get him started and Janelle snapped this picture. He is just too cute!



He has a new snowsuit and new boots. Let the snow begin.

335/365 - Christmas decorations at the mall

Back up to the mall tonight to get one of my favorite movies that just came out today - Night at the Museum, Battle of the Smithsonian. The mall looked really pretty tonight all decorated for Christmas.

152/365 - Escalators

Okay...one more picture of these escalators at the mall and then I won't post any more, I promise. But, as you may know, these escalators at the entrance to this store really fascinate me. But, they only go one way - down. If you are in that store on the first floor and want to come up, too bad. You have to got out into the mall. Now is that weird or what? To get the full effect, you have to see a video of these escalators. Look closely and you'll see that both of them go down, there is no up! By now you are probably saying, who cares! I just thought it was weird and wanted to point that out. That's it. No more pictures of escalators, LOL!!

143/365 - 5th Annual Birthday Build-A-Bear

Today was our annual "Build-A-Bear" excursion. This is our 5th time doing this for Marley's birthday. She told me today that she wanted to do Build-A-Bear every year until she got married. Marley wanted to go to Yankee Candle to get the "bear" but go to the mall Build-A-Bear to get the clothes and accessories (they have a much bigger and better selection). I think she likes the whole process of going to Yankee Candle and looking around up there, but the Build-A-Bear at the mall is much better really. This year she chose a black lab and called him Blackie. We bought Blackie two outfits, a denim pocketbook, a collar and leash, and another leash. What a fun day. Kris called later tonight and asked Marley if she had a good day and she said it was "fabulous."

141/365 - XXI Store at the Mall

So....as a followup to my post #124, the new store with the escalator right at the entrance is now open. It is called XXI forever, and is a store for just what it says, people who are "21 forever." It's a huge store and if I was 21 I'm sure I would love it. The store has only one floor though, so the escalator just goes to the second floor of the mall. Really different!

124/365 - Weird escalator

Tonight we went to the Mall (Monday night at Borders) and next to Borders they are working on a new store. Years ago when Lord and Taylor was at the Mall, it used to be a huge store with two floors and its own door to the outside. Part of Lord and Taylor was made into the Borders store and the rest was blocked off with a wall. Lately, they have been working on a new store (XXII ??) and the weird thing is that the escalator from Lord and Taylor is right at the opening of this new store. I can't imagine how this is going to look when it's done. It's interesting to watch though!

113/365 - Monday Night at Borders

This is poor Paul, waiting at Borders while I shop. Actually, this is the third time in less than a week that we have been at the mall. At least tonight I ended up buying something that (I think) I like. I only have three more days to change my mind!
