346/365 - Prims Christmas presents

Tonight, while Marley had choir practice, Pat and I put together Christmas bags for our party in Prims next Wednesday.

345/365 Bethany's Singing Christmas Tree

Tonight Paul, Marley and I went to the Bethany's 36th Singing Christmas Tree. We got there early enough to get our traditional front row seat. Actually it is the second row but usually no one sits in the very first seat because it is only part of a seat and it is right next to the drums. Tonight it was very crowded so a family actually sat in the row in front of us, but Marley had the end seat which stuck out a little farther so she still had a good view. It was wonderful, as usual. We went to Friendly's afterwards for sundaes (another tradition).

We got there pretty early, so Marley humored me by posing for a few pictures since not many people were around.




In other news, a few posts ago (December 7th) I mentioned that Minnie had learned how to get up on Izzy's perch. Tonight we were watching TV and I happened to hear something at the other end of the room and lo and behold there were two cats up on the perch. They did okay, no fights or anything (although Izzy did not look too happy).




P.S. Just in case you're wondering why I have a big towel up there - this is actually the top shelf of a bookcase where I have my scrapbooks. Izzy started going up there (and have you ever tried to stop a cat from doing anything?) so I put a towel up there so that cat hair wouldn't get into my scrapbooks. Then when we got a new mattress for Mason's little crib, we put the old mattress up there. Very comfy for the cats - LOL!

344/365 - Christmas Party

Tonight we went to Paul's work Christmas party; held right at the restaurant. They usually have it catered, but tonight everyone brought something. I have to tell you, there are some GOOD COOKS that work at that restaurant. Paul signed me up for salad (smart man). Denny (Paul's boss) asked him to play Santa and hand out the gifts!

343/365 - Baby it's cold outside

This was the temperature tonight on my way home from the hairdresser. I'm not ready for this yet!

342/365 - Prims (again)

Tonight Pat and I spent a long time helping the girls memorize John 3:16 for their Salvation badge. The verse was a little long for some of them but they worked really hard. I was so proud of them that I just had to have them pose for a picture.

341/365 - No altercations so far...

Izzy watched Minnie jump up on her perch this morning. A little later she got up on what she uses to jump up to the perch and looked up at Minnie. I thought for sure she was going to jump up there and then, who knew what would happen. But...she backed down and went somewhere else. Poor Iz. Her last holdout. No place is sacred with Minnie.

340/365 - Christmas shopping

Tonight I met Kristen, Janelle and Mason at the mall to do some Christmas shopping for Marley and Mason. Marley, obviously, was not there but Mason is too young to know what was going on. Every now and then we would let him out of the carriage to walk around. We didn't get far with him walking...he is easily distracted!




Paul's contribution to the shopping was to sit (and at times sleep) at Borders and wait for us to drop off packages.



At least I made a dent in the shopping tonight!

339/365 - The boat is back... (by Paul)

"I recently sold my boat which I had had for 48 years. I got it when I was 12 years old. I was feeling a little sad about getting rid of it but the sadness was lessened by the fact that the boat had a good home. I called the scrap metal dealer that I sold it to and told him if he ever decided to scrap it that I would buy it back. He said that he was definitely going to use it. A little later I called him to tell him that I wanted to drop off some accessories that went with the boat. He rather startled me when he asked me if I wanted to buy the boat back. His plans had changed. I asked him if he was sure, and he said 100% sure. So, he delivered the boat and the oars and the motor today. When I told Debbie it was coming back, she looked at me with disbelief. She had been trying to get rid of all my junk for a long time and the thought of some it coming back was a little too much for her. But after awhile she came around. We are going to use it for outings with the grandchildren when the kayaks would not be practical."





Marley had fun playing in it today. She has quite an imagination. She went on a marine archeology voyage today and had a tug of war with a shark, among other things.




In other news, Mason has been sick since Friday. He has had a fever and cold symptoms. He seemed a little better today so they decided to still come for dinner.



In the evening his fever came back so they gave him some Tylenol.





Once the Tylenol kicked in he perked up, at least enough to give Marley a ride on his "car". I hope he feels better soon!

338/365 - Tangled

Today Paul, Marley and I went to see Disney's new movie Tangled. We all loved it, especially Marley and I. Baba said that it was the first movie in a long time where he stayed awake (of course, we went to the 3:40 showing!!). The scenery just captured your imagination with the little castle hidden in the woods. We didn't see the 3D one but even so the imagery was absolutely beautiful. I'm sure this is one that we will want to see over and over.

On another note, today Minnie learned how to get up on Izzy's perch; the only place that Izzy had where Minnie didn't go. She got up the same way Izzy does. She must have seen her at some point. She stayed up there for quite a while. I don't think that Izzy saw her up there. We could have a problem when she does!

337/365 - A suprise Christmas wreath

Tonight when we got home from work there was a box from LL Bean by the back door. We knew we hadn't ordered anything, so what was it?

It was a Christmas wreath from Janelle's dad, Joe. He is coming for Christmas dinner this year and sent us this wreath.




It's absolutely beautiful. Thanks, Joe!

I'll take a picture of it in the daytime and publish it later.

12/26/10 - I finally got around to taking one during the daytime. It still looks good!
